Artificial Intelligence, New Technologies and the Law: Why the Committee?
That artificial intelligence is no longer a futuristic concern is becoming evident across various contexts. With the fast pace in developments of large learning models, machine and deep learning processes, the fact that computer systems are progressing towards significant cognition and human capabilities is a reality that is manifest in various sectors. With this rhetoric is a pertinent question: how should the law respond?
This the question which this Committee will examine from a plethora of perspectives relevant to law and governance of AI, new technologies and international law.
As the Chair, I welcome you and implore you to engage with the resource through the technical skills, expertise and discussions available to you here. We hope that you will join in this conversation as we develop a roadmap on solutions to critical issues around artificial intelligence and new technologies.
